Laura grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, in a family of talented interior designers.
She has been painting the majority of her life and her studies in art are extensive.
She graduated from Hollins College in 1980 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art, and her continuing studies were at the Philadelphia College of Art in 1982 and 1983. At the time, she studied watercolors and showed at various places on the Main Line. |

In 1986 she attended The Finishing School in Great Neck, NY and painted trompe loeil and wallglazing throughout the United States for 10 years. She was featured in several magazines in that time period, including Southern Homes, Southern Accents, Veranda, and House Beautiful.
In 1995 she studied oils under Ray Vinella, one of the founding members of the Taos Art School and later that year returned to Atlanta to study with Marc Chatov, a renowned figure and portrait artist.
In 1999 and 2000, she studied under Dee Beard Dean, the founder of PAPSE,
The Plein Aire Society of the South East.
In 2001 Laura studied under Kenn Backhaus, the President of The Plein Aire Society.
In 2003 Laura studied under Rhett Thurman, one of Charleston's favorite artist.
In 2004 Laura studied under Craig Nelson, the chairman of The San Francisco School of Art, painting plein aire in Charleston. In June 2004 she travelled to New Hope, Pa. to paint with Lois Griffel,the director of the Cape Cod School of Art. Laura does teach private lessons only. You must be able to draw and know a little about painting. The price is $75.00 an hour.
2006, Laura bought an Epson 9700 Printer and started sellling her giclees to stores and clients up and down the East Coast.
In 2007, she studied in St. Simons under Larry Moore, the president of PAPSE, and Perry Austin, another member of PAPSE.
There have been 20 shows in the South East at private homes from 2000-2006. She has participated in fund raisers for The Lowcountry Childrens Center, The Heart Ball in Charleston, The Charleston Designers Show House, The Humane Society, MY Sisters House, and Brookgreen Gardens. In January 2007 she was juried into Oil Painters of America.
She enjoys living in Charleston, South Carolina with her family, and she enjoys painting still lifes out of her studio, lowcountry scenes in plein aire, and cityscapes in plein aire.
